Dr Steve Same

Dr Steve Same

Anaesthetist

MBBS FANZCA

Born and raised in Perth, completing his medical degree at UWA before undergoing extensive training mainly at RPH, but also at other major Perth and Swedish teaching hospitals.

Steve is a senior cardiac anaesthetist who has anaesthetised close to 20,000 cardiac patients. He was instrumental in establishing the cardiac unit at the Mount Hospital, an Australian renowned centre for cardio-thoracic surgery. He believes over his 40-year career he has seen an enormous amount of time and money spent advancing surgical and anaesthetic techniques and in multiple new technologies and equipment. Safety of patients during their actual surgery is relatively assured. However, this is only part of a good surgical long-term outcome and often the most important part, you the patient, is not focused on enough. For the best outcome you need to be prepared both physically and mentally before you undergo the surgery and likewise supported once you go home.

He believes that patients deserve the best outcomes possible when they access medical care. Following the research in peri-operative care, he is passionate about patients having easy access to this new model. As a patient of My Surgical Buddy your pre- operative assessment will be completed by Dr Same. He takes the time to understand your health status and concerns. Working with you to develop a personalised pre surgical action plan and a post discharge care package designed to improve your post-surgical outcomes.
